Biography+
I am attached to teaching and research of Human Physiology for more than 30 years at erstwhile Presidency College and now Presidency University. I have specialization in industrial safety and hygiene, sports physiology, intensive advanced study course in ergonomics, methods and concepts of chronobiology. I have studied morningness and eveningness in Indian shift workers (UGC-JRF) and environment and human health (M.Phil).
Research / Administrative Experience+
Objective of my research is to maximize the productivity preserving the precious resource of human health in a safe environment. My doctoral work was on development of noise map of Kolkata at horizontal and vertical level. I have specialization in industrial safety and hygiene, sports physiology, intensive advanced study course in ergonomics, methods and concepts of chronobiology. I was engaged in projects on productivity improvement linked study on women tea pluckers of Eastern India with special considerations to their working comfort, welfare and health status and ergonomic study of occupational health problems of women construction workers in unorganized sectors of West Bengal, determination of safe load limit funded by National Tea Research Foundation (NTRF, Govt. of India) and DST (Govt. of India) respectively. At present I am working on evaluation of physiological stress due to school bag carriage among children of West Bengal and ergonomic evaluation of job stress of workers at construction sector.
Teaching / Other Experience+
My special interest of teaching is Systemic Physiology like Cardiovascular System, Nervous System, Biostatistics, Ergonomics, Work Physiology, Occupational Health, Sports Physiology. I have research and training experience in industrial safety and hygiene (Ministry of Labour, Govt. of India, 1983), sports physiology (Sports Consultancy with various institutions and clubs), intensive advanced study course in ergonomics (PSI and Ministry of Labour, 1983), methods and concepts of chronobiology (COSTED-CSIR-DST-INSA-MKU).
