George Biswas

About-
Dr. George Biswas received his B.Sc in Geology from Asutosh College (under the University of Calcutta) and M.Sc in Applied Geology from the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shipbur. He did his Ph.D. in Geology (Physical Science) from the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR). The research has been carried out at the CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute, Hyderabad. He studies hydrogeology, hydrogeophysics, and water resource management. Currently, as an assistant professor in this department, he is actively engaged in research in groundwater hydrology. He has delivered invited lectures on national and international platforms. He has received several awards and prizes from academic and non-academic fields.

Dr. George Biswas received B.Sc in Geology from Asutosh College (Under the University of Calcutta) and M.Sc. in Applied Geology from the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shipbur. After his M.Sc. degree, he joined at CSIR-NGRI as CSIR-JRF and completed his PhD in Geology (Physical Science) from the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR). He received the 'Best Thesis Award, 2023'; ‘Ramai Pandit Award’ in recognition for outstanding accomplishment in the field of Earth Science'; “Amul Vidya Shree Award for Outstanding Academic Performance at the Central/State Board Secondary Examination” in 2010, “Best Volunteer Award” in 2012-2013 given by the University of Calcutta, “Arijit Guha Memorial Award for Excellence in Community Engagement and Social Welfare,” 2016;

I have been teaching for the last six years in both PG & UG Honours in Geology. I teach Geophysics, Engineering Geology, and Mineralogy at UG and PG levels. These contain both theory and laboratory-based coursework. I was an international trainer for the Science Research Workshop Module by the Dhaka University Research Society (DURS), Dhaka, Bangladesh, from September 3, 2022, to November 3, 2022.
