Assistant Professor
About-
I am a trained urban geographer. The state of the big cities and our prospects for making them sustainable in the foreseeable future have a significant impact on my understanding of urban geography. I'm intrigued by the rapid urbanization of rural areas, especially in the Global South (India specifically) - what drives rural urbanization, what environmental and social challenges are rising, and how to govern in-situ urbanization to achieve sustainability are a few questions I am currently interested in examining. More importantly, I want to start a conversation between research on large cities and that on rural settlements becoming urban to fill the gap in a more in-depth understanding of urban concerns. Additionally, I find it fascinating to view urban sustainability challenges from a perspective that considers both the environmental and social dimensions of urbanization
